Heuglin's Gull Larus heuglini
December1987 Tamagawa-river Kawasaki Kanagawa Japan

5 Black-tailed Gulls in the foreground. Black-tailed Gulls show similar or a little darker mantle compared to Laughing Gulls. From this point of view, I presume that this individual has similar tone to graellssi.

A Black-tailed Gull in the foreground.

Same bird as above, in March 1991

Same individual in mid-March 1989. The black parts are more extended toward primary coverts compared to Vega Gulls. The white subterminal crescents seem to be presumably a little extensive than most Heuglin's Gulls seen in the Middle East.
