Juvenile/1st winter and 2nd winter
Large white-headed Gulls

Nov. 1st 2012 Donghea, Korea
Photographed by Choi, soon-kyoo.
Provisional identifications/captions by Michiaki Ujihara('Taimyrensis' is temporarily named Taimyr Gull here.)

Juvenile Vega Gull.

Juvenile/1st winter Vega Gull
A few scapulars are new.

Juvenile/1st winter Taimyr Gull
Note the narrow-fringed, scaly upperparts and somewhat slimmer overall structure.

Juvenile/1st winter Taimyr Gull?
Note the dark greater coverts. The pale belly seems better for Taimyr Gull rather than American Herring Gull.

Juvenile/1st winter Slaty-backed Gull ?
Note the short-winged structure. More advanced individuals in this time of year that show replaced scapulars and worn wing coverts are easier to identify.

Juvenile/1st winter, presumed American Herring Gull  Larus smithsonianus
Seems to be a good candidate of American Herring Gull.

2nd winter Vega Gull

2nd winter Vega Gull

2nd winter Vega Gull

2nd winter Vega Gull

2nd winter Vega Gull

2nd winter presumed Taimyr Gull.
Note the whiter head-underparts in contrast  to the darker upperparts. And the primaries are still molting.

2nd winter Taimyr Gull.
Note the darkish gray scapulars and dark greater coverts. The outer primaries are still growing.
