Mongolian Gull
Larus (?) mongolicus
January 19th 2007 Choshi Chiba Japan

This adult Mongolian Gull was found among thousands of Vega Gull.

The legs and wings relatively looked longish.

7 black-marked primaries (P10-P4), the major pattern for Mongolian Gull.

The bright, black-marked bill and white head strongly attracted our attention among Vega Gulls.

The legs looked paler and grayer in comparison with Vega Gulls. The tarsus included some yellowish pigmentations, but the webs were pink.

Preening with Vega Gulls. Compare the head streaking.
