Ring-billed Gull L. delawarensis
January 20th 2002 Hasaki  Ibaragi Japan
-located on the other side of Choshi, across the Tonegawa-river.


The winter markings are limited to the head and upper neck. The bird on the right shows typical head/breast coloration of Kamtchatka Gull.


Note the primary-pattern. Most Kamtchatka Gulls have obviously larger mirrors than this.
The mantles of the gulls seem to tend to appear darker here, in my opinion, because of the seawall covered with white droppings.
