Adult winter Thayer's GullLarus thayeri
Choshi Chiba Japan, January 14th 2002
This is one of the old-timers of Thayer's gull in Choshi.
It was found for the first time in 1987.

*The FIRST SHOT of this individual, December 1987 Java script

*Another old-timer

*A recent page of one more different PALE old-timer

This has the smallest bill among the old-timers, so this may be a female.

Compare its head structure, bill size, and head streaking with the Vega Gull.

Its hooded head and pale mantle are distinct among Vega Gulls in flight.
And also, the wings look long against the small head/bill
